Nick Mohammed in Apollo 21
Pleasance Courtyard
For the gays, 2009 is the primarily the 40th anniversary of both the Stonewall Riots and the sad death of Judy Garland. To everybody else it’s 40 years since a man landed on the moon.
Talented and versatile character comedian Nick Mohammed presents us an array of real life characters, with very unreal characteristics. The non to bright Lancastrian Buzz Aldrin hosts, with a child like and camp Michael Collins, confused conspiracy nut Bart, and Laika (the first dog in space) playing supporting roles.
Mohammed’s comedy is charming, undemanding and non-confrontational. Clearly well researched and rehearsed, this show is a technical master class when measured against average fringe fair. A laugh-out-loud gag-a-thon it isn’t. For this show to have a wider appeal, Mohammed needs to tell more jokes. It is likely, however, to make you smile pleasantly for an hour.
