Thankless Child
Pleasance Dome
An hour of slapstick sketches, which mainly consist of tediously protracted clichés like ‘crying over spilt milk’ and ‘don’t put all your eggs in one basket’.
The show is well produced, the performances are well rehearsed, and the duo have great stage presence and interaction. However, the show just lacks any real comedy depth. The sketches are bland and predictable, and at times verge on irritating. The ‘blind mice’ sketch squawked on for so long that I wanted to grab the carving knife from the farmer’s wife and mutilate them myself. It failed to raise more than a few guffaws. Despite the occasional funny moment, this is one to avoid.
