Stroke of Genius
Pleasance Dome
A masterstroke of a production! Intelligent, articulate and humorous in all the right places.
This performance manages to detail the history of eugenics (genetic tweaking) in the form of a light-hearted plotline which sees a lonely librarian mastermind a plot to steal sperm from a genius in order to create an ‘exceptional’ child.
It’s easy to watch, with fascinating, well researched scientific nuggets interspersed throughout. This performance deconstructs the complicated subject of genetics and natural selection and makes it accessible to all without being patronising.
The actors are energetic, fluent and convincing, with Dora the librarian particularly excelling in her hilarious portrayal of the staid librarian. If you enjoy a show which stimulates the mind while deeply entertaining you, this is a must-see!
