Art House
The Zoo
A fascinating portrayal of mental illness, manipulation and desire. Charlie is a tortured artist, struggling to live within the confines of a world that moves too quickly. In a quest to gain ultimate freedom, posthumous fame and also reap the benefits, she fakes her death – with the assistance of her ever-indulgent sister Viva. The consequences are not, of course, what they had anticipated, and the result for both women is catastrophic.
Art House is an interesting glance at what drives us, how absolute power corrupts and how freedom always comes at a cost. A truly original production with a beautifully poetic script. On the whole the play is well acted, although there are some wooden moments. Definitely worth checking out.
