Kosh In The Storeroom
Gilded Balloon
This is a real contradiction of a performance, with moments of magnificent and moving brilliance juxtaposed against scenes of monotonous self-indulgence.
This piece of expressive dance theatre tells the story of Zoe, a woman betrayed by her married lover, who sets her up for the murder of his wife. She serves a life sentence, and the couple meet again on her release.
This is the most professionally produced performance I’ve seen, with wonderfully prepared, extravagant props and glamorous costumes. Sian Williams is amazingly choreographed, as she moves expertly and gracefully in different personas and dance styles. The audience is compelled to watch each intricate movement of this elegant, muscled model of perfection.
On the down-side, some of the scenes are so repetitively long that my attentions started to wander to my chipped nail polish. Overall, a great show for someone who appreciates the beauty of expressive dance.
